E-mail headers are very valuable in helping to determine why an e-mail has been delayed and/or bounced.
Retrieving E-mail Headers: Outlook
The directions below are for Outlook 2007, but other recent versions (XP, 2003) may be similar.
1. In Outlook 2007, in the ‘Inbox’ right click on a e-mail in question.
2. After you right click choose ‘Message Options’. This will open a window.
3. In the ‘Message Options’ window find the text area labeled ‘Internet Headers’ – the text area is to the right of the label.
4. Copy all of the information from the from the text area to an e-mail.
Retrieving E-mail Headers: Outlook Express
The directions below are for Outlook Express 6.0, but other recent versions may be similar.
1. In Outlook Express, in the ‘Inbox’ right click on a e-mail that in question.
2. After you right click choose ‘Properties’. This will open a window.
3. In the ‘Properties’ window click on the 'Details' tab.
4. Copy all of the information from the from the text area labeled 'Internet headers for this message' into an e-mail.
