Outlook Express
(Note: this tutorial is based on Outlook Express
6.0 for Windows XP Service Pack 2. If you are using a different
version of Outlook Express your experience may differ.)
E-mail Account Setup
1) Open up Outlook Express. If you are using Windows, you should be
able to find in the Start menu under All Programs.
2) Once Outlook Express is open, click on the Tools menu at the top,
and the select the Accounts option.

3) After selecting the Accounts option you should
see a tabbed dialog box. Click on the Mail tab. When
the Mail tab is open, click on the Add button to the
right. The Add button give you several options to add, choose the Mail option.

4) Choosing the Mail option at the end of step 3 opens the Internet
Connection Wizard for creating mail accounts. On the first
step, enter you name. Enter you name and click Next.

5) The second step requires entering the e-mail address you want this
account to before. Enter your e-mail address in the space provided.
(For our example we have chosen 'user@christwebs.com' as an example.
You should enter your e-mail address instead.) Click Next when
you have entered your e-mail address. (Note that from step 2 on you
can click Back to make a change on a previous step.)

6) For step 3, you need to enter mail2.christwebs.com for
both the Incoming mail server and Outgoing
mail server. (You can see this in the step screen shot below.)
Click Next when you have made these entries.

7) In step 4 you need to enter your e-mail address again for the Account
name, and enter your e-mail account password for Password.
If you want Outlook Express to remember you password, check Remember
password. When you these entries made click
Next.

8) The last screen is to confirm that you want this account to be
entered. To complete the wizard, choose Finish.
Changing Account Information
When an account has been entered, you can change the settings for
an account by clicking properties on the account you select in the
Mail tab. See screen shots below.
The
E-mail address and the account Name are listed in the General tab.
The
Servers tab contains the Incoming and Outgoing server
names. The Account name and Password are located beneath the servers
section. Make sure the Account name listed is your E-mail
address.
The
Advanced tab allows you to tune several features regarding
you connection to the e-mail server. One of the nicer features is the
Delivery section which allows you to keep a copy of
you e-mail on the server for a number of days. This is useful if you
often use multiple e-mail clients to check you e-mail account with and
you want to keep them both current.
